The gorgeous and historic grounds of the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs Headquarters transform into Mobley’s living nightmare in “Nobody’s Favourite,” where he’s trapped in a seemingly endless search for the musical key to his freedom.
I can’t help but wonder if that’s related to the fact that on his upcoming album titled “Young & Dying in the Occidental Supreme,” Mobley’s own musical credits include piano, bass, drums, percussion, trumpet, violin, autoharp, mandolin, melodica, tin whistle, vibraphone, and glockenspiel, among many more. You might even say he’s a sonic skeleton key.
As for “Nobody’s Favourite,” Mobley describes it as “the internal monologue of a powerful scumbag. The speaker spends the whole song vacillating between utter egomania and abject self-loathing. He’s losing it, progressively, as the song goes on.”
And as it does, you’ll likely find yourself loving its singer and multi-instrumentalist even more.

“I had a dream this was all lit up
But the luster’s fading
I had a dream this was all I want
But the lust is waning
I had a dream this was all there was”
